Fun Day 2016

Fun Day 2016 was held on Saturday, September 17th at the North Yarmouth Village Green.

The theme for Fun Day 2016 was "We Can Be Heroes!"

Heroes come in many forms and we celebrated them all! Fun Day attendees were strongly encouraged to dress up and pay homage to their favorite heroes, whether they be teachers, firefighters, police or the more fantastic super-heroes of comics and movies. The capes and masks FLEW off the Costume Swap table as folks got into the spirit! The Village Green showcased our local heroes all day long.

The majority of Fun Day takes place at the Village Green on Route 115. Route 115 will be closed during the day, but thanks to the Smith family, there is free parking very nearby on Route 9. Handicap Parking available behind the fire station.

The fire station restrooms will be open to the public.

   8:00am Skyline 5K Trail Run/Walk
Please join us for Skyline Farm’s 3rd annual 5K Trail Run/Walk. The race starts at 8:00 am at Skyline Farm, and the course follows Skyline’s trails as well as a loop through the Yarmouth Water District’s trails.

   9:30am Parade
This promises to be our biggest parade ever! Get your lawn chairs out early along the North Yarmouth sidewalk, watch from the Village Green or join the parade yourself! Prizes will be awarded for best representations of the "We Can Be Heroes!" theme. To register for the parade, please fill out this form.
   9:45am  Opening Ceremony
The real-life heroes of the American Legion Post 91 Color Guard will help us kick off Fun Day with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Greely High School Chorus will treat us to a live rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner! We will also be recognizing the winner of our 2016 Fun Day T-shirt Design Contest: North Yarmouth's own Anna Raley!
10am - 5pm All Day on the Village Green
  • Old-fashioned arcade games (10-3pm) - built by Ron Hamlin, these local treasures have entertained a generation of North Yarmouthians. Every play is a winner!

  • Climbing Wall/Bungee Jumper - climb the wall like your friendly neighborhood Spider-man or perform acrobat leaps like the nimble Black Widow!

  • Food booths - patronize the booths and support the North Yarmouth Fire Company, Walnut Hill Garden Club, North Yarmouth Historical Society and Greely Swimming.

   12:00pm Party Palooga Balloon Show
A perennial Fun Day fan-favorite! This isn't some third-rate balloon animal show — this is balloon art!
   1:30pm Distinguished Citizen Presentation
Brian Sites has made a huge impact on North Yarmouth in his relatively short time living in town with his wife, Dee, and their two daughters. Please join us in celebrating this volunteering superstar. Brian has worked hard to ensure that those in need have access to firewood, to improve our recreational opportunities in our parks, to create our town brand and to make sure that the new Wescustogo Hall meets our current and future needs. Come show Brian how much we appreciate his efforts!
   1:45pm Parade of Heroes
Whether you bought your costume or painstakingly crafted it over the course of many months or years... here's your chance to show it off! Fun Day Dollars awarded to all participants!
   2:00pm Nikki Hunt
We are super excited to have Nikki Hunt make her Fun Day debut! Nikki is a multi-talented performer who has dazzled crowds all over New England with her singing, dancing and hula hooping prowess. Check out her website at and look her up on YouTube and you'll see what this amazing young lady can do!

   3:00pm   Hero Obstacle Course
See tomorrow's heroes in action as they change into their costumes, smash through brick walls and perform daring rescues and other feats! This will be a fun opportunity for the kids (or maybe even the "young at heart") to act out their fantasies and feel like they're part of a comic book or the next Hollywood blockbuster! Participants can wear their own costume or use our loaner cape and mask. Fun Day dollars awarded to all valiant participants!
   5:00pm Bean Supper
It's a Fun Day tradition for a good reason. Nobody makes baked beans like the North Yarmouth Fire Company! The beans go into the ground on Friday evening and spend all Fun Day simmering in the bean hole. There'll also be hot dogs, rolls, coleslaw and dessert. Come on down and treat the family to a great meal with your neighbors.
