Fun Day 2015

Fun Day 2015 has come and gone. We could not have had better luck with the weather and the crowd was great.

Saturday, September 12

8:00 - 9:30 Pancake Breakfast - North Yarmouth Fire Station.

Start Fun Day the right way! The North Yarmouth Congregational Church Men's Group will be serving breakfast fare and at just $6 ($4 for kids under 12), it's also a great deal!


8:00 Skyline 5K - Skyline Farm

As part of Fun Day, please join us for Skyline Farm's 2nd annual 5k Trail Run/Walk. The race which starts at 8:00 a.m. will start and finish at Skyline Farm. The course will consist of 2 loops through Skyline's woods trails and fields. Please sign up for race at www.running4free.com ($20.00) or sign up on race day from 6:30-7:30 a.m. ($25.00). The first 50 registrants will get a free t-shirt! For more information email info@skylinefarm.org or call Jen at 415-6830.

9:30 Parade

Walk/bike/ride and represent your business, your neighborhood or just yourSELF in the Fun Day Parade! This year, the parade will start at North Yarmouth Memorial School and run to the Village Green via Parsonage Road and Route 115. Contact Grace Lovell atgal789@aol.com or fill out a parade entry form if you would like to participate. A cash prize of $300 will be awarded to the best entrant!

9:45 Opening Ceremony - Village Green

Gather 'round the bandstand as the American Legion Post 91 presents the colors and we honor our 2015 Distinguished Citizen of the Year: Dick Brobst! Please click here to read more about this amazing man!

10:00 Games/Food/Vendors/Bungee Jumpers/Bounce Houses open

This year we've got inflatable obstacle course, a bounce houses, a bungee jumper and the usual great games for the kids! Food will be served by local non-profits like: The North Yarmouth Fire Company, the North Yarmouth Historical Society, Boy Scouts Troop 58, Walnut Hill Garden Club and Greely Swimming. There will also be kettle corn and Italian ice!

10:30 Diaper Derby - Village Green

Rose Garden Preschool will once again host the diaper derby, which is a Fun Day tradition! Please note: wagering on babies is strictly prohibited! Please register at the Information Booth by 10:15.

11:00 Cribbage Tournament - Fire Station

Another Fun Day tradition returns! Registration forms available at the Information Booth the day of the event. First-, second-, and third-place trophies!

11:00 Party Palooga Balloon Show - Village Green

Back by popular demand! This isn't some third-rate balloon animal show - this is balloon art!

12:15 Dog/Human Look-alike Contest - Village Green

Do you and your pooch share uncanny physical similarities? Here's your chance to cash in on your inter-species synergy! Canine experts Liz Langham from Tree Frog Farm and Jessica Dyer from Paws and Play Dog Day Care will lend their expert opinions and choose the winner! 

Note: All dogs must be leashed at Fun Day and both dogs and humans must be cleaned up after!

1:00 Steve Corning - Village Green

Steve Corning began performing professionally at age 17 and has brought his off-beat brand of juggling and comedy to theaters and resorts across the country, and internationally aboard Disney Cruise Lines. Steve hails from South Paris, Maine and began his career studying physical comedy and improvisation at the world renowned Celebration Barn Theater. Steve is best known for his weird and crazy stunts, including escape artistry, contortion, and balancing heavy things on his chin!

1:00 John McDonald Book Signing - Village Green

Legendary Maine humorist, author and radio broadcaster, John McDonald, will have books to sell and sign. If you already own A Moose and a Lobster Walk into a BarDown the Road a Piece: A Storyteller's Guide to Maine or John McDonald's Maine Trivia: A Storyteller's Useful Guide to Useless Information... bring them on over and John will sign them, too! 

2:00 Kids' Muster - Route 115 next to the Village Green

Kids + Water = Big Fun! (As long as *you* don't have to clean it up.) 

3:00 Firefighters' Muster with MC John McDonald- Route 115 next to the Village Green

The North Yarmouth Muster team won the Yarmouth Clam Festival for the second straight year, but they are still reeling from last Fun Day when Cumberland dominated the field. Maine humorist and broadcasting legend, John McDonald, will narrate the exciting action.

5:00 Bean Supper - Fire Station

A real Maine tradition and nobody does it better than the North Yarmouth Fire Company! Four kinds of beans, coleslaw, rolls, hot dogs and dessert - all for a great price! This is their biggest fund-raiser of the year, so please come out and support the folks that work and train so hard to keep you safe!
